What makes personal data potentially eligible for commercial sharing?
Review rights, provenance, sensitivity and purpose before treating a personal record as commercially usable.

Commercial eligibility is not the same as personal usefulness. A record can help you understand your preferences while remaining inappropriate to disclose to a company. Eligibility depends on rights, source restrictions, sensitivity, the intended recipient and applicable law. It should be reviewed for a defined use rather than assigned as a permanent quality of an entire archive.
Start with provenance
Ask where the information came from and how it was collected. A preference you entered directly, a conversation export, a generated inference and authentication information are different categories. Keep those differences visible rather than treating them as interchangeable “user data.”
For each candidate, identify who authored the material and whose personal information appears. A ChatGPT or Claude export may contain your own statements alongside generated output and copied third-party text. A manual field can also contain information about someone else. Source and authorship affect what needs review, even when the record is stored in your account.
Check rights and restrictions
Provider terms describe certain rights between you and the provider, but they do not erase other people’s rights or an employer’s confidentiality rules. Copyright, privacy obligations, workspace restrictions and contractual duties can still apply. Ownership language should not become a blanket sale permission.
If rights are unclear, keep the item under review. A possible future use should not force a positive eligibility decision now. You can continue using clearly permitted information privately while excluding uncertain material from a commercial plan. More data is not automatically better data.
Check sensitivity and necessity
Consider whether the intended purpose needs the information at all. Identity, location, private circumstances and sensitive traits can introduce risks that a broad product-interest statement avoids. Minimize the proposed disclosure before assessing the remaining fields.
Persir’s current policy excludes several categories from sale through the product, including identity, location, sensitive information and account or experience settings. Other records do not become approved simply because they are outside that list. The implementation has no completed affirmative rights review for future commercial sharing, so unverified information remains under review.
Read labels as labels
Persir’s individual labels include “Potentially eligible for future sale,” “Personalization only” and “Under review.” Potential eligibility is conditional; personalization-only reflects a product exclusion; under-review means eligibility has not been verified. None means that disclosure occurred.
Persir’s Data page presents saved details together without a sale/private folder split. Their visibility in your own account is separate from underlying eligibility and any recipient-specific permission. A useful preference can remain excluded from commercial use, and removing a folder name does not authorize disclosure or change existing rights. No company receives a record simply because it appears in Data.
Require a separate decision before disclosure
Even an eligible item would need a defined transaction or sharing purpose. You should know the recipient, fields, purpose and terms before deciding. Private service processing is not that transaction, and account creation or summary confirmation does not supply commercial permission.
Persir has no active merchant-sharing or reward offering in this beta. Treat future availability as uncertain. Use the current profile to inspect provenance, correct claims and limit unnecessary information. A meaningful eligibility process should make a potential disclosure easier to understand and reject, not quietly turn a stored record into a commodity.
